Discover the diversity of mushrooms in the Vienna Woods and their trees.
Mushrooms have been on Earth for millions of years, and they're what make our forests exist in the first place. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of mushrooms and learn to see the forest and mushrooms with different eyes. You'll also receive valuable tips and tricks on how to distinguish edible mushrooms from their counterparts. You'll also discover many new mushroom species that go far beyond the usual mushroom knowledge of chanterelles, porcini, and parasol mushrooms.
Mushroom hike in the species-rich forests of the Vienna Woods with very interesting and varied mixed forests with spruces, firs, pines, beeches, oaks and other trees.

Discussion of the findings: takes place during the inspection of the area and/or after the hike.
It is recommended good footwear, Tick and rain protection, if possible a Basket (no plastic bags, cloth bags are ok), a pocket knife and a magnifying glass (if you have one) and most importantly: Bring fun and good humor.
For the sake of transparency, we would like to note the following legal aspects: Mushroom hikes are not mushroom picking events, as their organization (and participation) is prohibited in Austria under Section 174 of the Forestry Act and would be prosecuted. The primary focus is on learning about new mushroom species, their characteristics, and their lifestyles.
Course instructor
Juan Martinez
The course instructor, Juan Martinez, was born in Barcelona and spent ten years traveling the globe as a marine biologist and diving instructor. When love brought him to Vienna, he discovered a new calling: the world of mushrooms. Fascinated from the very first moment, he immersed himself in the study of mycology. As a biologist and certified mushroom consultant, he now shares his knowledge and enthusiasm in seminars, workshops, and guided tours. His courses offer in-depth insights into the fascinating world of mushrooms.
