WORKSHOP
Funghilicious
October 7, 2025 — 4 to 6 p.m. — Victoria
The starting point is a work from my project fungilicious, which explores the communication of fungi through their mycelium. My installations, consisting of paintings and textiles, provide ideas about how fungi communicate with each other, the thoughts they engage in, and what their information networks might look like. Unlike usual, the focus of these works is not on the fungus as a visible fruiting body. The focus is on making the hidden (communication through mycelium) visible or at least imaginable. The workshop is intended to introduce participants to the model of the fungal mycelium and how communication can be shaped and influenced within a collective. An existing installation from the fungilicious series offers opportunities for connecting ideas, messages, and exchange. Using various textile materials (ribbons, strips of fabric, writing materials for messages, etc.), participants can connect to existing communication structures (mycelium) in the artwork, develop ideas for new thematic areas, and leave a lasting mark. The goal is to design the individual representation of communication within a mycelium as an intersubjective installation. At the end of the workshop, the impressions gained will be briefly summarized and reflected upon. The network of linked materials and messages created during the workshop will remain accessible for the duration of the Pilzfestspiele and will allow for further additions by additional visitors during the visit. A limited selection of materials will be made available for this purpose. The installation is intended to provide a starting point for artistic exchange on the topic of mushrooms beyond the workshop.

Eileen Fischer, born in Hanau in 1993, is a multi-disciplinary artist. She has been painting and designing since childhood, and her work explores natural elements, forms of communication, and the diversity of human emotions. She combines diverse materials and, with her works, invites reflection on the relationship between humans, nature, and the inner world in the context of science. Aside from painting, she has been a member of the theater group Die Dramateure eV (Die Dramateure eV) for over ten years, where she is responsible for make-up and costume design. She is fascinated by everything self-produced and natural, from vegetable gardening to mushroom hunting to textile design.
