With us, you'll learn about the mysterious truffle varieties of Austria and Europe – from aromatic delicacies to rare forest gems. But truffles are more than just culinary treasures: They are a wonder of nature!

Learn how fungi and trees live in perfect symbiosis and why conservation plays a key role in this. With exciting insights and practical tips, we invite you to become an explorer yourself. Following the lecture, there will be a demonstration hike where participants will take on the role of truffle hunters.

Venue

Room D is located in the Museum Quarter at Museumsplatz 1, 1070 Vienna. Access is via Courtyard 8; the room is located on the ground floor. It's not far from the U3 Volkstheater station.

Subsequent screening

Following the lecture, we'll head out to the Prater for a screening. One group will attend at 1 p.m. and the other at 3:30 p.m. Further details will be announced during the lecture.

Cindy Bay

My name is Cindy Bay Káplár, born in Berlin, and I have been a full-time tattoo artist for over 16 years, which I still enjoy immensely.

But my greatest passion has led me into a completely new professional direction: the world of mushrooms—especially truffles.

I now live in my adopted home of Upper Austria, together with my partner and business partner Zsolt Káplár and our two Lagotto girls, Flocke and Pepper, who enthusiastically accompany us on our truffle hunt.

My work includes:

– the search for mushrooms and truffles throughout Europe

– teaching at the Truffle School Austria

– Citizen research on different truffle species

– Lectures on truffle hunting, truffle science and training methods

– the training structure, in workshops, for humans and dogs for successful truffle hunting

With my work, I not only want to share my knowledge, but also inspire others to explore this fascinating natural world – and thus contribute to the protection of truffles and their habitats.
